Welcome to St. Jude Catholic Parish

St. Jude Catholic Parish, Mto wa Mbu is in the Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha. St. Jude was established in 1963 under the leadership of the Holy Ghost Fathers (Spiritans) who are still ministering the Parish today.

We have 30,000 baptized faithful and 20 Mass Centers, the furthest is 50 miles away. We have daily and Sunday Masses and Adoration.

I am Father Peter Mashaka Kway a missionary priest from the Holy Ghost Fathers. I work in the St. Jude Catholic Parish which is in the ArchDiocese of Arusha in Tanzania.

We have 20 mass centers and in these 20 mass centers we have so many needs. First of all, they are far away from the main center and the roads are horrible. We can hardly get there when it rains. In the mass centers we have many needs for example we have no water. So we are appealing to the well-wishers to assist us especially in drilling the bore holes.

We have no health centers. People walk miles to be taken care of. So we are appealing to the fans whereby we can build the health centers in different outstations.

We have no schools in these outstations because most of our centers are inhabited by the Maasai people and the Maasai people live in the bush and they have no facilities. So we are asking you kindly if you can support us especially in the area of education whereby we can build the nursery schools and primary schools.

And also the bigger problem is prolonged drought seasons and people have no food. Especially the children in different schools. As we visited them, most of them live in land without food in the schools. So we are appealing to the well-wishers to assist us especially in donating food.

Also, our catechists - we have more than 20 - we are appealing to help us with motorcycles which can lead them to different destinations especially in visiting our faithful.

So, kindly we are pleading for your support because these people are coming from a humble background and they have no access to water, education and health.

Mother Oda Vocational School

Since 1997, the Little Sisters of St. Joseph have been running a vocational school giving young women education and technical skills and guiding and counseling as they grow up to mature people. We also have a dormitory to rehabilitate rescued Maasai girls.

Building Our Future

Parish community leaders meet to share, discuss, and learn about the needs of all the outstation communities. Attending this meeting is a very difficult task because of the lack of transportation and the distance to travel.
